Mt. Dragon Welcomes our new Homozygous Pinto Sport Pony Stallion
Homozygous Pinto Sport Pony Stallion - Gambits Counterpoint

Gambit - according to Webster's - an action to gain an advantage.  Mt Dragon welcomes this lovely proven pinto stallion to our Sport Pony program.  Standing 14.2hh, Gambit is homozygous tobiano producer.  Gambit was the foundation to the late Nancy Hackler's Wytchwood breeding program.  Through the years, the Wytchwood program has produced quality medium and large pinto ponies.  The Wychwood ponies are known for their lovely temperaments and beautiful balanced conformation and of course COLOR!!  Gambit will be used on some of our fancy purebred Welsh mares in 2011.  Gambit will be available for shpped semen.  Take advantage of this stallion!  You won't be disappointed.  He will add size, color, and temperament to your pony mares. His dam is part Welsh tracing lines back to *Rosedale Fairy Prince.

We also welcome three of the Wytchwood mares which helped make Gambit the producer he is.  Two are Evans bred mares, Evans Toy Soldier's Night Out and her daughter sired by Bristol Victorio, CTR Tiddlewinks.  The third mare, RS Heart Of Gold, a very fancy big moving 14.2hh cream cross-bred mare.  All three mares were covered by Gambit.  We look forward to their foals in 2011.

We are honored to have the privelege to continue with this wonderful breeding program.  We would love to hear from anyone who has a Gambit baby.

PonyPro student, Emma and our own Evans Thistle Isle have been featured on the Parielli home page demonstrating how well they have mastered some of the Parielli based games.

In the midst of thunderstorms and gorgeous spring days, Mt Dragon hosted a PonyPros colt starting camp/clinic.  Attended by ten PonyPros students and three mothers, the event was considered a huge success.   Evans ponies from foals to three year olds volunteered.  The days were filled with Kali and Les and the girls working with ponies, playing with ponies, relaxing at Wallowa Lake, and telling stories around the camp fire.

Introducing Section B Stallion Skellorn Dauphinoir!

Section B Welsh Pony Stallion - Skellorn Dauphinoir

Skellorn Country Monarch x Skellorn Chantelle

Mt Dragon is thrilled to announce the presence of a new face in our line-up of stallions.  Skellorn Dauphinoir is the qui essential Welsh and Sport Pony stallion.  He exemplifies the qualities which have made the Welsh in general and the Skellorn Welsh in particular as well known and sought after as they are.  The Skellorn Stud in UK has built their reputation on producing stunning such as this which have consistently won in excellent company in the UK both on the line and as premiere performance ponies.  We will expect nothing less from our Davie babies when he is crossed with our unsurpassed group of mares.

Dauphinoir aka Davie is a lovely big stallion standing 13.1+hh.  He has wonderful bone and substance and the classic head which has always set the Welsh breed apart.  His beautiful eyes reflect his kind and tractable heart.

We plan to use Davie on a number of our smaller imported mares and some of our hand picked Evans fillies.

Davie is available for shipped semen this season also.

Our first foal from Dauphinoir has arrived at Mt Dragon.  Dauphinoir aka Davie is a stunning imported black Section B stallion which was added to our stallion roster in 2009.  Davie is bred in the purple, representing the best of the Skellorn breeding.  The Skellorn stud has build a reputation for breeding big, correct Welsh Riding Ponies who now only win at halter but excel as performance ponies.  They have proven themselves in the UK and throughout Europe.  Davie's first Mt Dragon foal is gorgeous!  His dam is our RWW *Bronhuelog Antonia.  Welcome to Evans Jacob!

Introducing Donafur of Ocala Sport Horse, Ocala, Florida
Donafur
Donafur is a 2005 Registered, Branded and Approved Stud Book 1 Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International (RPSI) Stallion by the Grand Prix Oldenburg dressage stallion Donatelli and out of the PREMIUM Oldenburg mare Furianna. Donafur is at his home at Ocala Sport Horse but we will be breeding select mares to him in the future!

According to Samantha Christman or Ocala Sport Horse, Donafur is following in his sire's footsteps with his amazingly free shoulder and animated movement. Donafur also has the quiet, kind, willing and VERY friendly temperament just like his sire and dam.

News Update for Pajon's Royal Illusion, son of *Kenwood Royal Charter

Pajon's Royal Illusion

Donna O'Neil of Marsh Haven Farm in Canada writes, "Illusion has finished 30 days of under saddle training at the end of November, being ridden by a 7 year old girl over single fences on day 28".  Donna continues to comment that Illusion has been a "star all the way along."   There was some initial skepticism that he would be safe to start at 30 days, but he will do a few fences tomorrow."  Donna adds, "His driving experience plus his start have given him a lovely mouth and balance, with very few beginner wiggles and some balance work needed on the corners."

Congratulations to Donna and her future super star!
We look forward to his first foals which will arrive in 2010.

Mt Dragon welcomes Sara Ogborne to our farm and our home for the 2009 summer season!

Sara & Providence

Sara riding International Champion, Evans Providence of the Night

Sara will be helping in all areas of the farm including handling the foals, sales and promotion, and training.  Sara will also be helping create the Vision of the Evans Pony/Kid camp.  Welcome Sara, we are so glad you are here.  It is going to be a wonderful summer.  Check back for updates. Read Sara's bio below...

"Born and brought up on my families dairy farm in Somerset in England I have always been a girl that loves to be outside.  My passion for horses began with my Grandparents’ Section B Douthewaite Prairie Dancer (Lydstep Prairie Flower x Twyford Signal).  Together we entered the show ring aged four and began a successful career.  After I outgrew her, the decision was made to begin her breeding career; and so far she has produced 8 beautiful children’s ponies.  Throughout this time I have continued riding and producing both show hunter ponies, Welsh Section B’s, children’s riding ponies and dressage ponies.  For the last two years I have also attended the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester studying a degree in International Equine and Agricultural Business Management.  As part of this course all students undertake 20weeks of work experience in their second year.  Initially I had hoped to stay at home to be able to continue my work with our ponies; however I was very lucky to have secured a placement with Kathleen and Grady on their stunning ranch in Oregon. Whilst here I hope to help in the promotion of young stock and also offer children and families a chance to discover hope, love and enjoyment through horses."

The results are in for the 2nd Annual All Welsh Online Show sponsored by www.allwelsh.com!

Last year allwelsh.com held their first Online All Welsh Show to help their members through the EI outbreak that hit Australia.  This year they held their second online All Welsh Show to raise money for their members who have lost loved ones and property in the terrible recent bushfires.Kathleen Rawls & Evans Providence of the Night

Kathleen Rawls, owner of Mt. Dragon Welsh Ponies, along with Suzanne Moody of Glenhaven Stud were asked to judge this wonderful event.  Memberssent in photographs of their ponies and cobs that were placed on a website set up specifically for the show and then werel judged on what could be "judged" in the photos.  There were classes in all sections A, B, C, D & Part as well as some Ridden and Children fun classes. Click here for results!

Kathleen is pleased to have been asked to judge the All Welsh Online Show as her passion has always been ponies!  This legacy was passed down from her father, Paul Evans who was a true Welshman, not only in his ancestry but in his love to the land and the animals. Founded on the Evans family Homestead, in the remote NE corner of Oregon, the Mt. Dragon breeding program has grown to represent a strong influence on today's Welsh Pony and also the Welsh, Part Welsh, and Sport Ponies of the future.
